How relaxed do you feel when sitting at your desk? Do you find it a struggle to stay focused on your tasks or are you for ever being distracted?
To take control of your workspace you have to feel you can change the desk ‘settings’, much as you would on your smart phone, tablet or computer.
First of all you should adjust the lighting, which is easily done by getting your own desk lamp. Then place your telephone in the top left or bottom right corner of the desk. You should really use a cordless phone with the base placed off the desk, or best of all use a head set.
Your posture is the next priority. Adjust the height of your chair so that the balls of your feet have a ‘spring’ in them, and use a chair that has a five point leg and supports your back.
Do you ever get the feeling that your never get through your work load? Then make sure your desk is not reflected in any mirrors. And make sure that there is nothing on the wall behind you or you will feel weighed down by whatever is there.
At the end of each day clear your desk and file all your paperwork away. If you create a filing system that is easily accessible, you will always know where to start again when you come into the office.
